Year 1 Structure
In Year 1, we have two classes: 1K and 1RT.
1K:
Teacher: Mrs. Kirkwood
Teaching Assistant: Mrs. Gardiner1RT:
Teacher: Mrs. Reed (Mon-Wed)
Teacher: Mrs. Taylor (Wed-Fri)
Teaching Assistant: Mrs. Gardiner
On Wednesdays, 1K is also taught by Mrs. Stewart.
In Year 1, the children make the transition from EYFS to a more formal curriculum in a fun and encouraging way. We cover many exciting topics throughout the year, including:
The Seasons
The Human Body
Materials
Plants and Animals
Toys and Explorers
P.E.
The children have P.E. twice a week, following the Rising Stars Scheme of Work, with specialist coaches throughout the year.
Phonics
Across the school, we follow the Little Wandle Phonics and reading scheme.
