Writing should be more than a task—it should be a source of enjoyment, where discovery and growth happen. We aim to nurture a space where writers feel safe to take risks, think creatively, and explore. Ultimately, writing becomes not only a way to communicate, but also a tool to enhance learning and connect with others.

The Teaching of Writing

Our writing curriculum has been carefully designed using the statutory programmes of study alongside current educational research, ensuring it meets national expectations while reflecting best practice in literacy development. It is underpinned by a broad and balanced approach, providing opportunities for pupils to engage with a wide range of fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Transcription and grammar are taught discretely to ensure accuracy and fluency, while being consistently revisited and applied within authentic writing tasks.
