Year 1
Welcome to Year 1
In Year 1 we have two classes, 1A and 1RT:
1A: Teacher - Mrs Adams Teaching Assistant - Mr Crook
1RT: Teacher - Mrs Reed (Mon-Wed) Teaching Assistants - Mrs Hand
Mrs Taylor (Wed-Fri)
On a Wednesday, children are also taught by Mrs Walkingshaw (who teaches music and R.E.) and Mrs Ruddick (who teaches Computing).
In Year 1, the children make the leap from EYFS to a more formal curriculum in a fun and encouraging way! We cover many exciting topics throughout the year. For example: The Seasons, The Human Body, Materials, Plants and Animals, Trains, Toys, Carlisle Castle, Countries in the UK and Australia.
The children do P.E. twice a week, following the Champions Sport, Health and Fitness Scheme of work.
Throughout the school, we follow the Little Wandle Phonics and reading scheme and set weekly Mathletics Maths homework.
