  • Pastoral Support

We are committed to supporting the emotional wellbeing of all our children. We know that children learn best when they feel happy, safe and secure, and we work hard to create an environment where every child feels a strong sense of belonging. Our pastoral support is available to help children with a wide range of needs, including friendships, confidence, worries, feelings, family changes and any barriers that may impact their wellbeing or learning.

    Pastoral Team

Mrs Watson is our PastoralMrs Watson Coordinator and is a familiar, caring presence for children across the school. Pupils can visit Mrs Watson in The Nest at various times throughout the week, including playtimes and lunchtimes, where they can talk, seek support or simply enjoy a calm and nurturing space. She works closely with children, families, staff and external agencies to provide timely support and ensure children feel listened to, understood and valued.

Mrs Watson and Mrs Hand are both trained Mrs HandEmotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs). ELSA is a specialist programme that helps children to understand and manage their emotions, build resilience, develop positive relationships and grow in confidence. Through individual and small-group support, children are given strategies and tools to help them navigate the challenges they may face both in and out of school.

As part of our wider pastoral offer, we are also proud to provide Pets as Therapy sessions. These opportunities can have a wonderful impact on children's wellbeing, helping them to feel calm, supported and confident. Interacting with therapy animals can reduce anxiety, encourage communication and provide comfort for children who may benefit from an additional source of emotional support.

The positive impact of Mrs Watson's and Mrs Hand's work can be felt across the school. Together, they help to foster a nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued and ready to learn, ensuring that every child knows there is always someone to turn to when they need support.

    The Nest

The Nest is one of our dedicated pastoral spaces and reflects our commitment to the wellbeing of every child.

Designed to be calm, nurturing and supportive, The Nest provides a space where children can receive emotional support, build confidence, regulate their feelings and feel safe when they need additional guidance. It plays an important role in ensuring that every child feels seen, heard and valued.

Alongside the support available in school, there are a range of trusted organisations that offer information, guidance and specialist assistance for children, young people and families. Access our Support for Parents and Carers section below to find out more.
