School Lunches

Lunches

Each term, our catering team introduce a fresh and exciting menu designed to offer children a wide variety of nutritious meals, flavours and cuisines. Our school dinner menu operates on a three-week rotation, ensuring plenty of choice and variety throughout the term. Carefully planned to meet school food standards, each menu supports a balanced diet and helps children develop healthy eating habits.

Our talented catering team prepares meals fresh on site every day, using high-quality ingredients. From freshly baked breads and homemade cakes to traditional roast dinners, every meal is cooked in our school kitchen with care and attention. To help pupils make informed choices, each menu item also includes an environmental rating, highlighting the sustainability of different food options alongside their nutritional value.

Prices of lunches are £2.85 per meal. Free school meals are available to those that are eligible.

Throughout the year, our catering provider, organises a range of exciting themed lunch days linked to celebrations, world events and seasonal occasions. These special events transform lunchtime into a memorable experience, with our catering team decorating the serving area and creating themed menus that complement the occasion. The children love the theme days, which encourage them to try new foods, learn about different cultures and enjoy a fun dining experience alongside their friends.

Booking School Dinners

School lunches should be booked in advance using the Swift Kitchen app or website. Although meals can be ordered up to and including the day they are required, we kindly ask parents to book as early as possible. Advance booking helps our catering team order ingredients, prepare the correct number of meals, reduce food waste and ensure children have access to the full range of menu choices available each day.

If your child is having a school meal, please ensure it is booked before they arrive at school. If a child comes to school without a booked lunch or a packed lunch, you may receive a letter as a reminder of our lunch arrangements and to help us identify whether any support is needed with accessing or using the Swift Kitchen system.

Free School Meals

Children may be entitled to Free School Meals if their parent or carer receives certain qualifying benefits, including Universal Credit. Registering for Free School Meals not only provides eligible children with a free nutritious meal each day but can also help schools access additional funding to support learning. Parents and carers can apply directly through the Cumberland Council Citizen Portal, where eligibility can usually be checked immediately. We would encourage all families who think they may qualify to submit an application, even if their child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and already receives Universal Infant Free School Meals.

if you are eligible for free school meals. the local authority will let us know the date this will take effect from and this will be reflected on your swift kitchen app.
