Register of Interests / Terms of Reference

As an Academy Trust, Stanwix School requires that the trust must keep a register of any relevant business and financial interests, including governance roles in other educational institutions, for members, trustees, local governors and senior employees, serving at any point over the past 12 months.

The register must include their full names, date of appointment, term of office, date they stepped down (where applicable), who appointed them and relevant:

> Directorships, partnerships and employments with businesses

> Trusteeships and governorships at other educational institutions and charities

> Interests arising from close family relationships with other members, trustees or local governors

> Interests arising from close family relationships with trust employees

For each of these interests, they are required to declare:

> The name and nature of the business

> The nature of the interest

> The date the interest began

This is set out in Academy Trust Handbook 2026. Trusts should consider whether other interests should be registered, and if in doubt should do so.

Boards of trustees must keep their register of interests up-to date at all times. The register is required to capture the business and financial interests of members, trustees, local governors and senior employees, but the academy is only required to publish the interests of members, trustees, local governors and the accounting officer. It’s not a requirement to publish the interests of other senior employees.

Committee Terms of Reference

Our Terms of Reference set out the roles, responsibilities and expectations of the Trust’s two sub-committees. They provide a clear framework for how each committee supports the effective governance of Stanwix School, including oversight, challenge and decision-making within their areas of responsibility.

The two committees are Education, Safeguarding and Standards (ESS) and Finance, Estates, Staffing and Audit (FESA).

You can access the Terms of Reference for each committee in the documents below.
