Mobile Phones

Our school is a mobile-phone-free environment during the school day.

When can children bring a phone?

Children should only bring a mobile phone where there is a genuine need, such as travelling independently to and from school, a medical requirement, or another exceptional circumstance agreed with the school.

In order to bring a mobile phone onto the school site, the Mobile Phone Consent Form must be completed and signed by a parent or carer. Children must also read and sign the Mobile Phone Promise.

The full Mobile Phone Policy, including the Mobile Phone Promise, can be found at the bottom of this webpage.

What happens to phones?

Phones must be:

  • Switched off before entering school
  • Handed to the class teacher on arrival
  • Stored safely throughout the school day
  • Collected at the end of the day

Phones must not be used during lessons, breaks, lunchtimes, assemblies or school activities.

Smartwatches with calling, messaging, internet or recording functions are also not permitted.

Staying in touch

Parents and carers should contact the school office, rather than children directly, during the school day. The office will pass on urgent messages where necessary.

Keeping children safe online

We teach children about responsible and safe use of technology. We encourage families to support this at home by using parental controls, checking apps and online activity, and talking regularly about online safety.

If the rules aren't followed

Phones may be confiscated and parents/carers contacted. Repeated breaches may lead to further action under the school's Behaviour Policy. Safeguarding concerns will always be taken seriously.
